This Hobby is very subjective, and we have different tastes and likes for our sound.
I want to thank Sir Edz Cuizon, Sir Law loo, and Pickup Audio for arranging this tour and allowing me to test this unit.
We have different hearing ranges, so expect different outcomes.
I don't consider myself a professional but a casual guy who likes his Hobby.
I didn't gain any form of reward in this review. Everything I say is all based on me.
Introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to my Earbuds review; I will review a product from BGVP, and it's called the DX6. So without further ado, let us start. It was my first time experiencing their products, and their name is not new to me since I knew the brand through their affordable ear tips. By the way, This is my second time reviewing an Earbud the first one is the VE Monk plus.
Background about me and personal taste in music.
I am a student and, currently, a hobbyist in the audio world. My sound library Comprises more anime songs and Jpop artists (but not all artists). To all my fellow anime fans, even otaku or weeb, expect me to put anime references in my reviews.
Personal Sound Preference
After experiencing a variety of items that I own, I love a sound signature with a mid-centric style with colorful and lushly mids but remains a neutral tonality.
Build Design and Cable.
It has that Plant green color to its body and a glossy finish to the logo of BGVP. It is a modular cable, which means it is changeable with different ports, but the earbuds' connector is MMCX. Don't worry when connecting it since it has a Left and Right indicator in the earbuds. As mentioned earlier, this is a modular cable. I forgot that this has a 6N OCC silver-plated cable and a cable length of 130mm. In terms of Cable durability, it's pretty good, very durable, and I like it.
Packaging
- Inside the box are the following.
- Pair of changeable ports for the modular cable
- Set of foams
- Case for the earbuds
- The earbuds itself
- Cable tie
- Some paper instructions and greeting
- Earhooks
Fit and comfort
Since this is an earbud, I will explain how I wear this pair. Good thing this has included ear hooks. It helped me a lot and would not be accessible without ear hooks since my ears are big. Earbuds are not the same as Iem since earbuds are inside your ears while Earbuds are more just putting it to your ears. If you want isolation, Iem is your option.
Drivability and Driver setup
If you have a smartphone device, this can power up the pair decently, and in my experience, the output in my smartphone is not that great. The sound is somewhat not that clear. So I advise if your device has a dedicated Audio Dac like the LG V Series. This pair will benefit from power since it needs juice to unleash its full sound. It has only one Driver setup, and it's a DD, which means Dynamic Driver.
Sound Signature
According to my hearing and ears, This has a mid-centric based sounding, and for me, it suits my taste. Earbuds have bad isolation, which I mentioned earlier. Since this is mid-centric sounding, some might find it weird, but in the end, it is. It Still depends on the preference of the user.
Setup in this Review
Before I describe the sound components of the KBEAR Ormosia, here is my format for this review.
- Abigail Dac - 15-20%
- ES-Pro 9318- 16-22%
- Roon Music Player-Exclusive Mode
- Stock cable
- no earbuds foam
- OPPO A95
Regarding sound enhancers or EQ, I don't use them in my reviews since it alters the authentic sound of the IEM and makes it saturated. Now, let's dissect the Bass, Mids, Treble, and Technicalities.
Bass
It is prominent on the track but focuses more on the mid-bass than the sub-bass. In terms of the mid-bass, it's very pleasing for me since it has that punch and slam. The track Infermata by Spotlight kids it's a track that has a sub-bass focus. The sub-bass is audible but more on average. Overall the Bass is more on dynamics and mainly concentrates on mid-bass. Now, will I recommend this to Bassheads? Sadly no, since it does not have the sub-bass punch and rumble, EDM listeners will find this lacking since it does not have that prominent sub-bass.
Mids
Now, this is the primary skill of this pair. Since this is a mid-centric sounding, the mids on the track are forwarded and not recessed, but it's more on natural forwardness. It does not sound honky or artificial. In terms of Vocals, it's more on the naturalness side. Since this is mid-bass focused male vocals are somewhat better, but both genders sound excellent and natural. Violin sounds great on these earbuds; it's natural and has emotion. Now, does it match my preference? Absolutely yes, and I love the mids of these earbuds. I forgot to say, but at higher volumes, the upper mids might sound harsh, but at average volume, it will not be noticeable.
Treble
I like the treble on these earbuds. It Has the sparkle and air. In terms of the sibilance in my sessions with these earbuds, I didn't encounter any of it. The details are also great. It gives some of the brilliance on the track. The treble presentation is clear and transparent. Overall the treble of these earbuds is excellent for me.
Overall technicalities
I will explain it with these technical aspects, Soundstage, imaging, and Detail retrieval. So without further ado, let's start; the Soundstage of these earbuds is somewhat passable for me. It has average depth and has some space for the instruments to breath. Imaging is quite good on the track. As a former violinist, I find these earbuds good since I manage to hear the vocalist and instruments on these earbuds very clearly.
Conclusion
I am impressed with these earbuds; as a former violinist, these might be my option for casual and technical listening. My final words will be Fantastic Illusion since this has excellent technical aspects and overall sound.
Pros
- Smartphones can drive these earbuds decently.
- Satisfying Bass for me
- Natural forwardness of the mids and has the traits of a mid-centric sounding
- Modular cable for versatility
Cons
- It needs more power to show its actual sound signature.
- Harsh can be a problem for some ears.
- Bass-heads will not be satisfied with these earbuds.
